Site Provisioning Extender
The Site Provisioning Extender helps your SharePoint installation nail that rare, fragile balance between ease of use and manageability.
On one hand, the enterprise wants to get out of the way of its information workers and empower them to create sites and workspaces as needed for collaboration. On the other hand, giving users this power invites the risk of site sprawl - a proliferation of duplicate sites so numerous that they become hard to use.
The Site Provisioning Extender lets your business give users the power to create sites when needed, while maintaining a high degree of control, structure, and manageability within the system.
This rich site creation tool uses business-defined rules to ensure that sites are created in the proper location, and collects metadata defined by each organization to make sites more discoverable.

Site Navigation Extender
The Site Navigation Extender provides users with increased functionality by listing any and all sites where a user’s permission level is above or equal to an administrator-defined minimum level.
For example, the Site Navigation Extender can be configured to show any sites where a user has contribute permissions or better. In addition, that list can show all memberships that are granted indirectly by means of Active Directory security groups.

Site Directory Extender
With out-of-the-box SharePoint, a user looking for an existing site has very few options: Navigating through the site structure that is accessible to the user, or performing a search and hoping that the title, description, or some content on the site will lead the way to a meaningful result.
The Site Directory Extender resolves this shortcoming by leveraging information gathered by the Site Provisioning Extender (specifically the metadata provided by users during the site provisioning process) to provide faceted site search capabilities in a fast and intuitive AJAX-powered site directory web part.
Users can quickly find the site they are looking for in a field of thousands of sites - even if they do not yet have access to the site - ensuring a quick and effective for discovering and requesting access to the sites that the user needs.

Quota Management Extender
Without customization, SharePoint provides quota management capabilities only at the Site Collection level. However, in typical MOSS environments, the need to control the disk space usage of the system aligns with the areas of the system where permission to upload documents is normally granted and controlled: the individual site.
The Quota Management Extender provides exactly that: a simple and highly manageable mechanism by which to set, monitor, and enforce content quotas at the individual site level. Administrators can set a default per-site quota limit and warning threshold and the system will alert site owners and administrators of any violations.
Custom quotas can be set by administrators with the click of a button, and site owners can monitor and react to their quota usage and limitations with ease.

Usage Monitoring Extender
Often, a large number of SharePoint sites are used for the duration of a project and then abandoned, never to be used again. While SharePoint provides utilities to monitor and react to the usage patterns of Site Collections, the only out-of-the-box tools to help with usage monitoring are the read-only usage reports.
The Usage Monitoring Extender allows administrators to set usage requirements across the system and at the individual site level. Site usage is monitored over a 6-month window, and site owners who own unused or abandoned sites are alerted by e-mail and prompted to take action.
If a site is no longer needed, the site owner can choose to archive the site - removing it from the system while preserving the ability to restore information when necessary.
